Position Summary

The Machine Operator will fabricate and assemble polyethylene pipe (HDPE) to create a variety of customized structures such as; fittings, valves, T's, Y's, elbows, aqua-shields, geothermal vaults, manholes, dual containment units, pumps, gas aeration lines and similar structures that meet customer specifications by performing the following duties:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, product drawings and pic ticket orders to determine the materials, tools and equipment needed to complete work
  • Follow quality control procedures when fabricating and assembling products per customer specifications
  • Maintain accurate records of materials used on “ticket”; locate and pull required materials from inventory
  • Sustain clean work area and equipment; follow safety procedures concerning use of equipment and materials for safe working conditions
  • Operate ISCO's fusion and fast fusion equipment, cranes, and forklifts
  • Utilize a variety of hand tools, saws and cutting equipment
  • Perform other related duties as assigned Base Qualifications and Competencies

    Education, Training and Experience:
    • High School diploma or GED
    • Knowledge and application of tools used in: welding, fusing, cutting, and measuring
    • Understanding of carpentry and hand tools
    • Read and comprehend safety rules, operations, maintenance, procedure manuals, and blueprints/drawings for fabrication
    • Understand/perform math functions of basic geometry, fractions, percentages and ratios
    • Interpret technical instructions in mathematical and diagram form
    • Proficient use of business email and basic internet usage
    • Required forklift certification and experience
    • Prior fabrication experience and fusion qualification preferred Quality & Quantity:
      • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness; consider ways to improve and promote effectiveness of fabrication operations
      • Audits own work to ensure quality and accuracy; maintain attention to detail
      • Complete work in timely manner; works quickly, and with accuracy

                • Occasionally exerting up to 50 pounds of force
                • Regularly exerting 10 pounds of force to move objects

                • Constant talking, hearing, and seeing with close visual acuity Work Environment

                  When on the job, the machine operator is:
                  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes/airborne particles
                  • Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions; extremes of cold/heat, humid conditions or work in high precarious places
                  • The work environment exposes individual to loud noises from moving equipment and machines
